A simple, but neat twist to the standard card deck. I especially like the way the shape of the empty spaces in the black spade in the center both clinches the design and makes it unique. The tessalation pattern on the back is a nice touch, too.

The only thing I would suggest is increasing the size of the "a"s and the smaller black spades in the upper-left and lower-right corners for visibility and balance, they seem dwarfed by the central spade.

Are you going to expand this concept to the other 51 cards? Even if you just manage to adapt this to the aces of the other 3 suits, I look forward to seeing how far you can take this idea.
